I started playing volleyball in 5th grade, and it soon became a passion of mine. I remember when I was first learning how to serve overhand; I would go out in my yard and tell myself I wasn't allowed to come back in until I completed 100 serves which I would track with chalk on the concrete. In 7th grade I also had my dad build me a plyo box with scrap wood for me to improve my vertical. I learned pretty early on that I loved this sport and wanted to keep playing past high school. Even now when I'm not practicing with my school or club team, I'm usually begging friends to come play with me at recreation centers or sand courts to get extra reps. I love the competition and teamwork in volleyball, but most of all I love the excitement the team brings as we all strive for a shared goal.
Aside from volleyball, I also enjoy going to the beach, participating in Bible studies over coffee, laughing with friends, meal prepping, working out, and (above all) spending quality time with family.
We live in the beautiful state of Texas, just North of Austin. I am the second oldest in my family and have SIX amazing siblings, three of whom are adopted internationally. I cherish everyday moments with my family, like braiding my sister’s hair, walking to get shaved ice with my siblings or playing board games with my brothers.
A few summers ago, I went on a mission trip to Ethiopia, where I helped set up a home called Bete Hosana for young women aging out of the orphanage. Simple moments like blowing bubbles with the babies at the orphanage, playing soccer with the young kids in the street, and making bracelets with girls at Bete Hosana have impacted my perspective of the world.
